So...

Man did I love this story. Five stars. Highly recommended.

Let Me In, or Let the Right One In, the original Swedish movie it was based on, if you haven't seen either, is the most horribly touching love story about a murdering 12 year old vampire girl that I've ever seen or read. It's bizzare, the way this movie twists your emotions around and plays with them. Go buy it.

Having seen both versions now, I think I prefer the American one a bit more, for a variety of reasons I won't get into. Just my personal preference. But there are many others who prefer the original, so my advice is watch them both like I did. Decide for yourself. Same basic plot. Both great movies.

Then if you like them read the book both movies were based on. I did that too.

Truthfully, of all the adaptations I've seen/read across three versions, they're some of the most faithful retellings I've ever seen. All three versions are... -basically- 90% the same story with a few bits and pieces different. And truth be told, of those bits and pieces, no one version is my favorite. I love the basic story of all three, and the bits and pieces I pluck from each of the three retellings as I choose to fill in the gaps that best suit me as a person... if that makes any sense...

Anyway... I started working on this back in October, when I saw the movie(s)... got about 95% done with it, then dilly dallied on the last 5% over the course of three months. As usual, I'm still not 100% happy with it, but I think it's finally gotten to the point where I've played with that 5% long enough, so I'm just gonna up and post it.

I did Abby and Eli versions just because... by the time I finished the book the two characters were largely one in the same in my mind (which I suppose they are) and while I prefer Chloë Moretz, I didn't wanna leave Lina Leandersson fans hanging. So yeah. If this was a comic book, Abby would be the main cover and Eli would be the variant.
